While formulating the conclusion of my “Struggle with Creativity” post, it came to me... I needed to escape this world full of rules and regulations... something from the past was required to study myself in the present. The most suitable option to awaken my creative expression, was to go way back in time… I focused upon a phase in my youth — a teenager with a celebrity crush — a crazy love.
I started investigating an idea with a working title « Infatuation ». Where does an artist begin to explain or represent an ephemeral idea, a feeling from so many years ago?
I’ve been exploring my subject of choice, going deep down in the rabbit hole of the internet and enjoying every moment!
Through my searches on the subject of “Infatuation,” I discovered a 2003 official music video of Rod Stewart entitled Infatuation.
After a conversation on my new idea, my friend Vera suggested I check Julian McDonald’s website. Julian explored the subject of crazy love in her own incredible videos. My favourite is Me and Billy Bob.
As I pursue my journey investigating the topic of infatuation into the new year, I would love to hear from you on this subject since I have not yet discovered an artists’ book on representing infatuation.
Have you ever discovered an artists’ book on the theme infatuation? What was the structure of choice? How did the content versus context manifest itself within the subject matter?
May the holiday season bring you joy, peace and prosperity in the new year… life is being creative and merry!
